Garter Short Rows

When working short rows in Garter Stitch, you will work T&S (turn and slip 1 knitwise with yarn in back) while creating the short rows, and then KPK (knit 1, pick up purl bump, knit 2 together) to close up the gaps when the short rows are complete.

T&S

Step 1: Work to the stitch specified in the pattern.

Step 2: Turn to work in the other direction. Slip the first stitch on the left-hand needle knitwise with yarn in back, pulling the stitch

taut on the right-hand needle.

Repeat Steps 1 and 2 as directed in the pattern.

KPK

Step 3: Work to the stitch specified in your pattern and knit 1. Insert the tip of your left-hand needle under the purl bump at the edge of the turning stitch. To close the short-row gap, knit the 2nd stitch on the left-hand needle together with the purl bump.

Repeat Step 3 as directed in the pattern.
